Buenos Dias! It's a beautiful morning in Guatemala as I sit in the courtyard of our guest house and watch the sun rise over the mountain. We will be working in the clinic all day. Not only does it bring me joy to meet the patients and serve them, but we also pray over each patient that comes into our clinic. Yesterday, we went to the hospital in Guatemala and my heart was broken. We have more medication in our small clinic than in the entire hospital. The doctors do not have the resources required to treat the patients, and the conditions were poor. Some families told us they had been waiting for months to be treated. We went to the children's ward to hand out stuffed animals and pray for the sick children. I was able to give away one of Lauren's old Webkinz to a small two year old who was malnourished. We also went to visit the local schools that are supported by impact ministries. We were able to play games with the children and watch them worship. I cannot lie, watching the children praise the Lord with all of their hearts made me a bit choked up. They sing so loudly that you can hear them from down the street! It is no wonder than Jesus told us that children would inherit the kingdom of God. We will have one more day working in the clinic before traveling to spend one day in Antigua. Then we will be headed home already! This trip has gone by super quickly, but I'm blessed to have been able to meet my Guatemalan brothers and sisters. Please continue to pray for our team. Hey Mom! I am alive! So far, our trip to Guatemala has been incredibly beautiful and humbling. After a long night spent sleeping in the airport, I have become a professional at sleeping on planes and bumpy car rides (there are no speed limits).  I am so blessed that the people of Tactic have welcomed us so warmly into their community. It is still early in our trip, but we have had two days of work in the clinic. We have also done several home visits, school visits, and church visits. Our team went shopping in the local market. We also went hiking in a sink hole, and my clumsy self managed not to fall. Also, Dad would be proud that our interpreters are helping me with my Spanish. My Spanglish is muy bien! I am excited for the adventures to come. I am thankful for God's provision. With all my love, Kayla.

"Flexibilidad"

One of the first Spanish words you learn on a missions trip is "flexibilidad" (flexibility)... this trip is no exception! Due to weather conditions and the fact that the Guatemala City airport closes at 11pm, our plane isn't able to leave tonight. We will see what the plan is once we get off the plane (been waiting patiently since about 6:15 to take off). Always an adventure!

Heyy, we're alive! And very much off the grid. I won't repeat too much of what Kayla said since she explained what we have been up to the last few days but I did want to mention that this morning we had the opportunity to go to two of the schools that Impact Ministries runs in the Tactic area. At the first school we participated in morning devotions with the elementary school kids, who were very loud and enthusiastic about praising the Lord in song!! Then we went to another school where we got to meet one class of 10 students and their teacher. We played some games with them and shared chocolate-covered fruit as snacks. It was a blast to play with these kids and see their excitement about our visit. I love how excited they are to come up and give us hugs, smile at us, ask us questions even when we can't understand them, giggle with us, and take our hands and make up games to play.
